Isny im Allgäu, Baden-Württemberg.

Two nights in Isny im Allgäu was the perfect little stop on our road trip through Germany.

We spent an afternoon wandering around the Altstadt, admiring the colourful buildings and quiet streets. We were actually surprised by just how peaceful it was. Even in the middle of summer, it never felt busy.

There’s not loads to do here, but that’s what made it such a good stopover. A few hours was enough to explore the town, have a wander and slow the pace down before getting back on the road.

In the evening we grabbed a table in the market square and ordered traditional German schnitzel. I’ll be honest, we’ve definitely had better, but you can’t win them all! It was still a lovely spot to sit with a drink and watch the evening unfold.

Accommodation: We stayed in a tiny little village just outside of Isny im Allgäu, called Rohrdorf. It was a 15 minute drive away from the main town and can be found here.

Parking: Parking within Isny im Allgäu signoisted well. We parked here, which gave us immediate access to the town and was free.
